This left the door open for Mario Chalmers to force overtime with a fall away 3-pointer at the buzzer. The Jayhawks then took care of business in OT and brought home their first National Championship in 20 years.

The win propelled the Jayhawks to a spot in the National Championship, where they took on the Memphis Tigers in an OT thriller.

Freshman Derrick Rose with 25 points and nine rebounds led the Tiger's to a convincing 78-63 victory over the Bruins and ultimately a spot in the Championship game against Kansas. This victory marked Memphis' 38th of the season, making them the winningest team ever in a single season. Chris Douglas-Roberts also delivered big time, as he added 28 points to the Tigers' total.

National Player of the Year Tyler Hansbrough further validated his title with 28 points and 13 rebounds.

UCLA's 53% completion rate propelled them to a dominating 76-57 victory over Xavier and secured them a spot in the Final Four for the third straight year. UCLA's Kevin Love scored 19 points and 10 rebounds while the Bruins' defense held the Musketeers to only 32% shooting from the floor. The Bruins went on to lose 78-63 to Memphis in the next round.

Texas went on to face a ready and waiting Memphis in the Elite Eight.

In their third straight Sweet 16 appearance, John Calipari's crew dominated Michigan State 92-74, advancing the Tigers into the later rounds. Memphis' unmerciful 50-20 lead in the first half was highlighted by a thunderous jam from Antonio Anderson, a double-pump stuff by Derrick Rose, and a breakaway windmill dunk by Joey Dorsey [00:23:20;00]. By the way, Rose finished the night with 27 points and five-assists.

Superstar Stephen Curry took it upon himself to outscore Wisconsin 22-20 in the second half. Curry finished the night with 33 points, including six 3-pointers.
