Butler took down powerhouse Michigan State in this low scoring down-to-the-wire thriller. The Spartans' Draymond Green pulled the game to within one with 56 seconds left on the clock.The Bulldogs held and took the nation's best winning streak to the next level for a shot at the title.

The fifth-seeded Spartans headed to their second straight Final Four after Raymar Morgan's free throw sealed the victory with less than 2 seconds left on the clock. The Spartans' Durrell Summers led the night with 21 points, as the 70-69 victory over Tennessee propelled Michigan State to a matchup against a now infamous Butler squad.

Fresh off a tremendous upset win over Kansas, Northern Iowa held their own most of the way against powerhouse Michigan State. In end, however, the Spartans' defense limited the Panthers to only one point in the final 2:30 of play. The Spartans' Durrell Summers led the night with 19 points as the 59-52 win earned Michigan State a trip to the Elite Eight where they took on a motivated Tennessee Volunteers.

For the fifth time in school history, North Carolina ended the season as National Champions. Behind stellar play from Ty Lawson (21 points and a championship game record 8 steals), Wayne Ellington (19 points), and Tyler Hansbrough (18 points), the Tar Heels defeated Michigan State 89-72 in front of 72,922, the largest crowd ever to watch a National Championship game. Not since Duke did it in 2001, North Carolina won every game of the Tournament by double digits.

Michigan State pulled away in the last 1:20 seconds to beat the No. 1 seeded Huskies 82-73. The Spartans secured their spot in the National Championship due in part to Kalin Lucas ' 21 points and Raymar Morgan's 18 points. Travis Walton's solid defensive also played a key role in the victory, as he kept UCONN's leading scorer, A.J. Price, to only 15 points.

Michigan State advanced to the Final Four for the fifth time under head coach Tom Izzo following a 64-52 victory over No.1 seed Louisville. In this low scoring game played in front of roughly 72,000, the Spartans' Goran Suton and the Cardinals' Earl Clark each posted a respectable 19 points. However, Michigan State's defense dominated the Cardinals' by holding them to only 38.3 percent from the field.

Michigan State rallied in the last two minutes to beat defending champs Kansas 67-62. The Jayhawks' Sherron Collins and the Spartans' Goran Sutton each had 20 points, however it was Kalin Lucas who led the charge in the final moments by scoring seven points in the last 49 seconds, thus earning Michigan State a spot in the Elite Eight where [they matched up against Louisville.

In their third straight Sweet 16 appearance, John Calipari's crew dominated Michigan State 92-74, advancing the Tigers into the later rounds. Memphis' unmerciful 50-20 lead in the first half was highlighted by a thunderous jam from Antonio Anderson, a double-pump stuff by Derrick Rose, and a breakaway windmill dunk by Joey Dorsey [00:23:20;00]. By the way, Rose finished the night with 27 points and five-assists.

North Carolina defeated Michigan State by a score of 87-71. North Carolina was top-seeded and coached by Roy Williams, while Michigan State was seeded fifth and coached by Tom Izzo. The Spartans had a five point lead at halftime, but the Tar Heels roared back under the play of the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, Sean May. North Carolina went on to cut down the net in the National Championship.

Touted as one of the most exciting games played in Tournament history, this thriller featured a last second 3 pointer to tie the game, a pivotal instant replay, and a double OT. At the end of the day, Shannon Brown's 24 points and solid play in the second OT earned Michigan State a spot in the Final Four where they squared off against North Carolina.

Michigan State upset No.1 seeded Duke 78-68 thanks to Paul Davis' 20 points and 12 rebounds. Ten clutch free throws in the last 68 seconds finally earned Spartans' head coach Tom Izzo his first win over Duke and Coach K. Michigan State went on to the Elite Eight where they played Kentucky in one of the most exciting games in tournament history.

T.J. Ford scored 19 points and dished out 10 assists in an 85-76 victory over Michigan State that propelled the Longhorns to their first Final Four in 56 years. Other offensive leaders for Texas were Brandon Mouton with 16 points and Brian Boddicker with 15. The Longhorns advanced to the next round where they squared off against an unstoppable Syracuse squad.

Michigan State knocked defending champion Maryland out of the tournament early following a 60-58 nail biter that came down to the final few seconds. Maryland showed plenty resolve while rallying from a 14-point deficit late in the game, however, the Spartans held on long enough to earn a spot in the Elite Eight where they squared off against Texas.

Arizona dominated defending champ Michigan State 80-61 and earned their first trip to the title game since they won it all in 1997. The Wildcats extended their winning streak to 11, as both Jason Gardner and Richard Jefferson had big nights with 21 and 17 points respectively. Arizona ended up losing against Duke 82-72 in the championship game three days later.

David Thomas' career-high 19 points helped the Michigan State Spartans rack up their third consecutive Final Four berth after beating Temple 69-62. Despite Kevin Lyde's 21 points and Lynn Greer 's 20, the Owls trailed the Spartans the entire game. Michigan State went on to the next round where they fell to Arizona 80-61.

Michigan State muscled its way to a decisive 77-62 win over the Gonzaga Bulldogs. The Spartans out-rebounded the Bulldogs 47-28 while Charlie Bell and Andre Hutson shot a combined 40 points. The Bulldogs headed home after making their third straight appearance in the Sweet 16, while Michigan State went on to the Final Four after beating Temple in the Elite Eight.

Michigan State legend Magic Johnson was among the 43,116 at the RCA Dome to witness the Spartans win their second national championship. After Mateen Cleaves left the game with an ankle injury early in the second half, Morris Peterson took over and scored 15 points in the final 11:11. Peterson ended the night with 21, while Mateen also finished a brilliant career at Michigan with 18 points. This marked Florida's first ever appearance in a national championship, however, it was certainly not their last in the 2000s, as they won back-to-back titles between 2006 & 2007.

Michigan State's stifling defense held Wisconsin to a dismal 41 points. It was the third-lowest scoring first half in Final Four history, as both teams could only muster a combined total of 36 points. However, at the end of the night, Morris Peterson and his 20 points led the Spartans to victory and ultimately to the next round where they defeated the Florida Gators 89-76 in the title game.

The Spartans took one step closer to clinching a national championship after stunning Iowa State after a 75-64 victory. Morris Peterson delivered nine points late in the second half, including a [thunderous alley-oop dunk, to spur Michigan State past the Cyclones on their way to the Final Four for their second straight season.

After a clumsy first 20 minutes, the Spartans came back in the second half and hit nine 3-pointers to rally from a 14-point deficit to beat Syracuse 75-58. The win moved Michigan State one step closer to reaching the Final Four for the second straight season. Morris Peterson netted 21 points while A.J. Granger hit 19, as the Spartans advanced to the next round to face off against Iowa State.
